DESIGN BRIEF

"Design for a NRI who prefers to stay in farmhouse whenever he visits india. The project is located in middle of mango and coconut farms which provides a stunning views all around. Challenges were to ensure safety and security as the house would be locked, most of the year while the nearest all weather road is few kilometers away. Located in fertile agricultural soil there was a huge problem of termites in surrounding areas. The site is just 10 kms away from karaikudi where we can find traditional chettinad houses. Client preferred to have a clean, contemprorary, maintanance free design rather than going for traditional vernacular style. THe summers are very hot in this region. Huge balconys and windows are provided on the East side which over looks the farm. While staircase, toilets and smaller windows are provided on the west wall to cut the heat transfer."
